Fortress St. Nicolas

Fortress St. Nicholas is located at the entrance to the St. Anthony canal, built in the 16th century to defend the city from Turkish attacks from the sea. It was designed by the Venetian army builder Michiele Sammichella. The lower parts are built of white stone and the upper was made of brick. Fortress St. Nicholas belongs to the strongest naval fortifications on the Croatian Adriatic.
